Along with our vision of holistic care, working with a sports psychologist is also part of sport. A sports psychologist can provide prevention, preparation and mental “fitness”. They can also help when things are not going so well – in case of injuries, progress, conflicts.
What does a sports psychologist do?
Among other things, he is professionally trained to ensure that the athlete is well prepared psychologically.
Psychological preparation is the least known of all preparation, is rarely used in a professional way by athletes, and therefore its effects are the least exploited. It aims to improve key psychological attributes so that the athlete can perform at his or her best even under stressful circumstances.
Through professional psychological training, we try to improve, develop and “retrain” psychological qualities. At the same time, the athlete learns to control them independently in order to be able to highlight the optimal performance state in which he or she competes best. These qualities are:
- self-confidence,
- Motivation,
- concentration,
- control of tremors, frustrations, aggressiveness,
- stress management …
